The Fitness Journey Continues.....

Fitness
It's been nearly a month since I wrote this post marking the rebirth of my fitness journey.  With the help of instagram, I've been receiving almost daily doses of motivation that inspire me to craft my ideal silhouette.   I admit, that I don't work out daily but I have been consistently moving and challenging my body at least 3-4 times a week.

(running the stairs for cardio)

A while back I wrote a post titled "Yesterday, you said tomorrow."  In it, I talked about the concept of "future me" and how I sometimes rely on a fictitious version of myself who will magically do the things that I'm not willing to do today.  I'm the same person tomorrow that I am today.  Unless I do something today to create a shift, tomorrow will look exactly the same.  In actuality,  if I don't take an action to change things, my future results will be worse because nothing left alone stays the same.  Atrophy is real... it's real!

(running up a skateboard ramp in a full roller set :)

Today, my body doesn't look exactly the same as it did three weeks ago, that's because I made the decision back then to do something different.  Three weeks from now, my body will be different than it is today.  I'll be grateful to "present me" for choosing to consistently say "yes" to getting my body in motion.

(step ups on a park bench)

Here's where it gets interesting.  I've gone through bursts of motivation in the past and worked out for a few weeks, or months, then stopped.  So this time I'm thinking about how I'll create longevity and sustainability in my habits.  In the past, I've worked out with one purpose in mind.  To tighten up.  And once I get there, I stop doing what I did to get there.  That's why I really love the comment that Girl_Ingogneto left in my first post about having fitness goals rather than appearance related goals.

With this strategy in mind, I can always be inspired to elevate my fitness levels no matter what my body looks like.  Honestly, that's what exactly I want.  I would like to make fitness a new way of life. Correction.....I AM making fitness a new way of life.

  1. Good luck, I need to get rebooted too. I keep saying that but let any little thing derail me. No more excuses.

  3. Awesome post, I love what you said about not doing it with a specific purpose/goal in mind but to continue on forever. BTW - congrats on the Madam Noire feature, that is awesome...I was ecstatic to see a healthy head of relaxed hair on the list!!!

  4. I have just recently taken the leap to a healthy lifestyle and I commend you on your job. I am trying to learn how to be consistent. I am consistent with my hair, my job, studies and I want to maintain the same consistency in my workout and eating habits. Keep up the great work.

  7. Congrats on the fitness journey.
    The hardest part is beginning.

The second hardest part is commitment.

The third hardest part is consistency.

If you can conquer all three, you're going for gold.

I find that something else i do for myself is not be hard on myself when i slip in consistency. We all have times where things get overwhelming at work or we just lose motivation somewhere and consistency slips. But as long as you don't go back two steps your good. As long as your still in the game and committed, just find something else that gets you back on that horse.

    All the best.

  9. I agree with Robin Peter...I began my search for people to assist me in taking control of my haircare needs - to grow my hair to my waist and in the midst of this journey people like you have helped me to take control of other parts of my life like fitness, skincare, make up and my dietary needs. Keep up the great work. I am sure that you will achieve your goals.
