[PSA.] It's Time to Start Taking Cold Showers Now!

Beauty

I have really been slipping on my beauty routines.  My slacking has caught up with me so now I have to make up for the lost time.   I'm really impatient when it comes to wanting results.  The sooner I start experiencing benefits, the more motivated I am to stay consistent.  So when I asked myself, "what can I do today that can create nearly instant results", my mind came back with one answer...

Take cold showers.

The reason why this was my immediate response is because I once was an avid cold shower taker.  Initially, I experimented with them because a few personal development gurus boasted about the mental toughness benefits that came with it.  And they were right.  Each morning, I'd stand under cold water in an impressive display of willpower.  Once the shower was over, I'd feel invigorated and energized.

But what really sold me on the entire experience were immediate..and I mean immediate...beauty benefits.

Some of the most notable benefits include:

1. Smoother, softer, more hydrated skin.   I'm not sure how this works but cold showers make my skin as soft as a newborn baby.   The softness is undeniable.  Somehow, cold water has the ability to make my skin feel naturally soft without the need to use excessive lotion, oils, or butters.  Dry, itchy skin is a non-factor whenever I'm on my cold shower routine and I love it.

2.  My favorite part of my cold shower routine is letting the cool water hit my face.  The feeling is invigorating but the real reason why I do this is to stimulate blood flow directly to where I want it most. Boosting blood flow to the face creates a lot of wonderful outcomes.  My favorite benefit is skin tightening.  My face always looks snatched after a cold water session.  I haven't even talked about how tiny and smooth my pores look.  Lastly, my skin has a really nice subtle glow to it.  Kinda like a post-workout glow, but better.

3.  My least favorite cold shower activity is washing my hair.  Don't get me wrong, the benefits are undeniable.  Smooth cuticles, shinier hair, less shedding, and increased hydration are just a few of the benefits available to you if you were willing to endure a little bit of discomfort of having ice-cold water hitting your scalp.  I can't tell you when the last time I washed my hair in cold water but I'm doing it this weekend because it's super frizzy and I seriously need an intervention.

What I love most about cold-shower therapy is that benefits are cumulative.  Trust me, you'll be rewarded for your consistent efforts. I didn't even talk about how cold showers help boost immunity. Honestly, it's probably one of the best anti-aging rituals everyone should practice.  Since the weather isn't cold yet, I urge everyone to implement cold showers in their routine right now.  Showering in cold water is less jarring when temperatures haven't dropped and the pipes aren't that cold.  Even though the water isn't as cold as it could be, I'm still experiencing crazy benefits while I build up my tolerance before winter.
