Did the Silicon Mix & Kanechom blend live up to its hype?

Healthy Hair
Just another visit to Youtube to kill some time....or so I thought.  Little did I know that I was about to stumble upon a video that would radically impact my current regimen.  Something inside me prompted me to click when I saw a thumbnail image of a woman swinging her honey colored tresses.  Once I clicked, her level of excitement and passion around her salon results at home intrigued me to keep watching.

Finally, after she calms down, she reveals the products which gave her such joy  The products shared were a combination of Silicon Mix and Kanechom conditioners.  The story behind this blend originates from another Youtuber who was fortunate enough to catch a glimpse of her stylist mixing these two products behind the scenes.  Y'all remember those days when stylists at the Dominican salons would whip up concoctions without letting us see what was going into the blends.  We are so fortunate to have been granted knowledge of this wonderful combination.

I already owned a large tub of Silicon Mix so all I needed to do was get my hands on the Kanechom.  One trip to Amazon easily took care of that for me.  Days later, my package arrived.  My first impression? I love the size of these Kamechon conditioners.  Nowadays, I opt to only purchase large sizes so I can conduct a proper strand ceremony.  Not being familiar with the brand, I didn't know which version of the Kanechom to buy so I got two!

The Goat Milk and the Karite Butter were my first purchases.  When I took the lid off and eye balled the conditioners, I knew something great was about to happen.  They had that glossy, smooth look to them that I like.  I knew, from that moment, that I found new staples.  I freakin' love nourishing conditioners and these are super nourishing.  Not too thick (WEN 613), not too watery.  This conditioner is just right.  Of the two, the Karite Butter was much more moisturizing.

(My new boyfriend, Kanechom Keratin & Shea Butter)

The Goat's Milk is good if you are looking a moisturizing conditioner with strengthening properties.  I'm glad I got both. They seem to balance each other out.   I love these conditioners so much that I went back for more.  In my Amazon cart, I add the Kanechom Ceramide Conditioner, the Intense Care Mega Hydration Karite Butter (different package from the one I have), and the Crystal Bath.  I wanted to stop there but the rave reviews on their Acai conditioner wouldn't let me.  I'm so happy I found this line.  I wish they didn't make so many varieties cause I'm sure I'll be tempted to try them all.

(Original Silicon Mix & Proteina De Perla)

Although the original Silicon Mix is the one recommended to create this conditioner fusion.  I opted to add in my wonderful Proteina de Perla (Pearl Protein) as well.  It's always been my favorite of the Silicon Mix line.  I thought that if the original worked well, then the Proteina would take it to the next level for me since my hair likes it so much.  Boy was I right.  So far I've experimented with the Kanemchom/ Silicon Mix twice.  The second time I added the Silicon Mix Pearl Protein and loved my results much more.  The amount of slip I experienced while rinsing was unlike I've ever experienced.  I literally had to hold on to my shower door handle to make sure I didn't slip in the tub.  My hair hasn't felt as good in a long time.  It seems more resilient and better more deeply moisturized. I normally don't blow out and flat iron, but if I did, I have no doubt that it would be swinging like the girl in the video. I can't keep my hands out of it.

Honestly, I can't see how anyone would try this combination in not fall in love.  The only thing to look out for would be eventual build up from the use of silicone.  That's why I'm keeping my Neutrogena Anti Residue clarifying shampoo near by.   Prior my Kanechom order, I also picked up some Inphenom products but I have absolutely no desire to use them. They currently sit unopened in my product closet.  That's how good this Kanechom Mix is.  Wash day is this weekend and I'm praying that my second order arrives before then so I can test out the Intense Hydrating Keratin Conditioner and the Ceramide version.

I'll leave you with my final thoughts.  This conditioner combination is phenomenal.  You get a lot of product for the price.  I promise that you will not be disappointed.  Trust me.

  1. The minute i started reading this post i knew my wallet would be crying. I had to stop half way to check Fishpond for Kanechom (Fishpond is Australia's answer to Amazon). They also stock Silicon Mix which is great

I am desperately in need of something that will moisturise my hair, serve as a great deep conditioner, give me slip. I am 5+ months post relaxer and in braids. I'll be taking my braids out in a few weeks and get a good haircut :)

I now have the Kanechom shea butter conditioner and the Silicon mix conditioner in my basket. Would you recommend a Silicon mix leave-in or something else? I am in need of a good leave in

  4. @ Stephanie,
I prefer watery leave ins because I roller set. I use Biolage Daily Leave In tonic. Kanechom has leave ins that are creamy in texture (and I suspect they can double as a moisturizer). Never tried them but now you got me thinking.

  5. Oh Nadege, you've awakened the conditioner lover in me. There are so many Kanechom conditioners available on Amazon I just don't know where to start. Decisions, decisions!

  6. Thanks for your response Nadege. I forgot to ask how long you left it on your hair for before rinsing it out. I usually deep condition as a pre-poo.

But i want to try pre-pooing with castor oil then doing a deep condition after my shampoo sesh

  7. Hi Nadege,

Can you post the ingredients in the Kanechom conditioner? I can't find a list of ingredients anywhere...

  8. Interesting review, but I don't think I'll be trying this. My hair haaaaates mineral oil and mineral oil is the second ingredient in Silicon Mix (at least all the ones I have seen). I currently love my conditioners (I switch btw Desert Essence coconut conditioner and Andalou sweet orange and argan oil conditioner) but maybe I will try the Kanechom by itself....Are the ingredients good?

  9. I'm very intrigued. Enough that I have both items in my cart. But I'm a little hesitant about the mineral oils and silicone in the Silicone Mix. Aren't those damaging to your hair over time?

  10. Can Caucasians women use this for damaged dry hair as well???

    1. My hair is naturally straight and Kanechom has worked pretty well on me. All the videos I've watched were from girls with curly hair (4 a,b,c) so I wondered if this brand would help me, but it really does work well with all types of hair, you just have to chose the right one for your hair.

    2. I ordered this stuff on Thursday and it was delivered Saturday. Here's some history, last September I made a huge mistake that resulted with all my hair taken out at the roots. I set out on a long journey to grow my hair. The good news is it came back. I decided that I am done with relaxers for a while and two weeks ago hair finally reached a point where I would be able to work with it again. Yeah no more fro and painful combing. This week I stumbled across the infamous YouTube video with Blondie and her flowing locks. I spent around $25 and I have not stopped touching my hair. I knew something was different when I. Applied the product. I don't know how to describe it really but my hair appeared to act like it does when a relaxer is in it and my curls relaxed. I blow dried and. Flat ironed my hair. I can't stop touching my hair. Wow. I do have other items in my routine but the silicon and kanechom was the change that had a massive impact.

  14. Hi, I just purchased the Karite butter from amazon, but I was wondering how the other Kanechom conditioners worked for you?

  15. My apologies, i just saw your in depth reviews on the other Kanechom conditioners. Very informative, thank you!

  16. When you mix the 2 products together is it half-half or do you put more kanechom or silicon mix?

    ReplyDelete
  17. I did not even combine the Kanechom with the Silicon Mix. I used the Kanechom alone and it did wonders for my hair. It truly feels like when I come back from the hairdresser. I cannot wait until next week to wash my hair and try a combination of both products. I will mix the conditioners and apply to the roots of my dry hair that will be sectioned in four parts (I did this this week using the Kanechom alone). I will place a plastic cap on my head for an hour and then wash with some Silicon Mix shampoo and it will come out beautiful, healthy and strong!

  18. I finally found some time to wash my hair. I got the Argan Kanechom conditioner and I found a site I think someone mentioned on here, ELennox, that had a sale on the Silicon Mix so I got 2 jars for $11. I loved how it was very moisturizing. I left the mixture on for 30 minutes. I didn't really measure, used a little styrofoam cup I had nearby and eyeballed it. It was kind of hard to tell if I rinsed out the conditioner entirely. Especially when I feel like some area feel brittle or almost like a scouring pad, but maybe that's just the keratin? I'll use it all till it's gone. I wanna try the shea butter and goat's milk too.

  19. UPDATE: The 2 times I mixed this with the Silicon Mix, my scalp was burning So I stopped using it. But I read about Crece Pelo, ordered some of that, and I mix that with the Kanechom and I love it. I washed my hair last night. I don't know if it was the conditioners (I think it was) or the protein treatment that seemed to make my roots straighter, but my hair feels and looks AWESOME.

  32. I finally tried this combination of hair treatments. I didn't use regular silicon mix or silicon mix bambu. Instead I used the new Silicon mix argan oil. It is my new FAVOURITE silicon mix conditioner. My natural hair felt so soft for a minute there I thought I had relaxer in it. Amazing treatment so than you very much for the tip!

  33. Girl, I know the youtube video you are referring too, because it also caught my attention. I purchased four Kanechom conditioners. Goat Milk, Karite, Aloe Vera and Ceramides. So far I have only tried the Goat Milk one and am in love with it. Used the goat milk solo just to try out the brand itself and my hair came out like butter. Since then, I mixed the Kanechom Goat Milk with the Silicon Mix Argan Oil. I am in love with these products and their reasonable prices! I can't wait to try the other Kanechom products. I wish I had more than one head :)
