Oily Skin Girls Rejoice! Matte Powder Foundation is Here to Save The Day.

Beauty
We're embarking on that time of year where the days are getting longer.  This means that warm weather is approaching.  And with warm weather comes increased oil production.  Oily skin is both a blessing and a curse.  On the one hand, it keeps your skin nice and supple.  But, at the same time, overly oily skin can look unpolished.

Last year, I discovered the importance of building a matte skin routine.  This year, I'm continuing to build on that routine.   I've picked up just a beauty staple that can finally help control oil production over the warm summer months.
A week ago, I discovered an NYX cosmetics store in my city.  Within minutes of locating the store's location, I was on the road in hopes of coming back with the perfect mattifying product.  It didn't take long before I found a product that could change the game.

I walked away from my little shopping adventure with a couple of lip glosses and NYX's Stay Matte But Not Flat Powder Foundation.  For a while, I had given up on powders altogether. I hated that overly matte finish that took away the natural glow.  I much preferred the dewy finishes of high-quality foundations.    Unfortunately, they don't do a great job at controlling oil.

This matte foundation powder is an oily girl's dream come true.  It provides a decent amount of coverage which means I can skip foundation altogether.  This will be especially beneficial during summertime when I opt for natural makeup.  Stay Matte applies easily with a makeup brush. I love this because it allows me some level of control around how much product I apply.  The finished look appears really natural and it's done a great job, so far, at curbing oil production.

The real test will come once summer hits but right now I'm really optimistic.

My next course of action is to plunge, head first, into the world of powder foundations. I've got my eye on NARS' Luminous Powder Foundation which is blessed with an SPF of 25.  Currently, I'm dusting a light layer of MAC's Mineral Skin Finish to add a bit of luminosity to my skin after the powder foundation.  I'm hoping NARS' Luminous foundation could eliminate that extra step.  Or perhaps I'll try the illuminator that Jazzma uses in her glowy skin routine.

The warmer it gets, the more products I'll layer into my matte skin care routine.  But, for now, Stay Matte Not Flat, is doing an amazing job.
