Every summer, I go through this awkward phase where I have no idea what to do with my hair.  Now that I transitioned, I barely wear my hair straight anymore.   The humidity makes it darn near impossible for me to wear a braid out in peace so I'm left with little options.

This year, I want to get a little creative.  My first order of business is to compile a collection of hairstyle ideas that are both cute and functional for the hot, sweltering summer months.  The first option I've chosen is an easy one --copious use of headbands.  

 I own very few headbands.  I find it hard to find cute options that go with various outfits.  Plus I have a big head which adds another layer of difficulty in finding the perfect headband.  On the other hand, I have a draw full of satin scarfs.  Many of them have beautiful designs that could beautifully accessorize mundane topknots.  

As soon as I saw this picture above I immediately wanted to figure out a way to quickly convert all of my favorite scarves into stunning headbands.  A satin scarf headband is a wonderful hair accessory because, unlike their cotton counterparts, your edges will be protected and loved.  Satin is a hair-friendly fabric so you don't have to worry about it drying out your hairline or being too rough on your precious baby hairs. 

So let's talk about how to do it!  

There are a lot of videos that show how to turn a scarf into a headband, but they don't actually teach you how to transform your scarf in a way that looks convincingly like a headband.  The video below does a wonderful job explaining the process in a way that's easy to replicate.

Although I've worn a mask in public for the past year, I've still purchased more lip products in the past year than ever.  Maybe it's because a part of me misses wearing lip color.  Or perhaps, I've been stockpiling in preparation for the day when we can safely interact in public without masks again. 

When that day comes, I'll be ready.

Especially now that I've found my new favorite lip products.....Colour Pop Lippie Stix.

Recently, I heard a piece of advice that I've been thinking about every single day.  It all started when I somehow stumbled on the "anti-MLM" part of Youtube.  In one video, the Youtuber shared a clip of of a secretly recorded MLM Zoom meeting.  

On the call, the woman told her team that their year from now, will be the direct reflections of habits they instill today.

Not long ago, I came to the conclusion to stop buying cocktails featured on restaurant menus (unless it's a restaurant that I know makes decent drinks).  Why? Because these drinks are typically overpriced and poorly made.  For the price of a sugary beverage, I could probably select another meal from the menu which means more leftovers to take home....and who wouldn't want that?!  

Instead of throwing money away on expensive libations, let's create delicious beverages at home for a fraction of the price.  To add a bit of inspiration, may I suggest that you get into these modern glasses that make any drink look 10x more appetizing?

Summer will be here before we know it.  This summer, in particular, feels special because it holds the promise of our first bit of normalcy after enduring a year-long pandemic.   I don't know about you but my weight definitely fluctuated during quarantine.  At the start of lockdown, I gained quite a bit of weight.  But, as time wore on, I lost most of it thanks to long walks.  But, after receiving my second vaccination shot, I gained some of the weight back thanks to rediscovering brunch again.  

Before things get out of hand, I've decided it's time to get healthy again in preparation for summer.  But this time, I want to make a slight tweak to my strategy.  By including one small action to my routine, I could be burning more fat without having to do more work.
