Tomorrow is the first day of October.  It's significant because we're entering into the last 3 months of the year.  As such, I'm already making plans to carry out a 90 Day Challenge.  Unlike most folks, we're not waiting until the end of the year to start making positive change.  Instead, we want to prepare for the year ahead starting now!  If we do this thing right, by January 2017, we'd be well on our  way to transforming our lives.
I don't know about you, but I'm ready to kick off a powerful 90 days.  Based on my past experience with 90 day challenges, the key to success relies on placing a priority on 1-2 areas of focus, for the remainder of the year.  That' all!

Well, that's not 100% true.  There are actually 2 components:

1. Identify your primary focus (and desired outcomes)
2. Determine the level of action required to achieve the outcome.

If you want to experience something that doesn't currently exist in your life, it simply means that you have to give it more time and attention (focus).  You've been focusing on other things and your current results are a direct reflection of that.

Our present actions do not (and will not) produce new results.  So, we have to commit to doing things  differently over the next few months.  But what if you wanted to create MASSIVE RESULTS over the next 90 days?  Massive results call for a completely different level of action.  A great formula for this was developed by Eric Worre.  He is a leader in the Network Marketing Industry and has earned millions over the course of his career.  His success is largely because of his successful execution of his 90 Day Game Plan.

Eric believes that putting 100% effort into a specific goal for a full 90 days can alter the course of your life.  His program is VERY intense and somewhat specific to the MLM industry. But we still can be inspired by his methods and apply a modified version of it towards our goals.

Check out this video where Eric describes the 90 Day Game Plan in detail.  As you listen, pay close attention to his method and determine how to apply these principles towards your goals.  You don't have to be a network marketer to experience similar results.  Last year I purchased a different 90 Day program where participants experienced tremendous results. Although the steps of that program weren't exactly the same as Eric's plan, the similar principles still apply.  Although I didn't execute the program 100%, I still grew my business and achieved personal goals.

In the end, it's about applying a hyper-focused burst of energy towards your goals to ENSURE they happen.

I've just returned from a short trip up north.  In my past life, I used to travel for work all the time.  But it's been a while and I realize that I've made a cardinal mistake.  The one concern always have whenever I leave the state is the drier air.  Where I live, humidity levels are near 100% for most of the year.  I never realize how good I have it until I venture elsewhere.

This past weekend, I really felt the struggle of trying to retain adequate moisture.  I take full blame for not fully preparing.  Not only was I dealing with lower outdoor humidity, but also the dry air of the hotel room.  Honestly, I believe the stuffy hotel room is mostly to blame.

With another trip up north planned in November, I'm taking a completely different approach.  Instead of packing the basic essentials, I'm bringing the high moisture heavy hitters.

About a week ago, I was browsing through  online magazines and ran across some quick tips from professional makeup artists.   I quickly read through the various snippets of advice before landing on one that would ultimately change my life.

You may have noticed from recent articles that I'm in the process of perfecting my eye makeup look.  In my quest for knowledge, I've stumbled upon a tutorial on how to create the bold cat eye reminiscent of Beyonce herself.  Then we took things one step further by learning Charlotte Tilburry's  mascara application technique for the perfect winged eye.

Now comes the third cat eye tip that, for me, is the best one yet!

It's officially fall.  And although I haven't technically noticed a change in weather yet, I'm already making plans for what's ahead.  Last year, fall and winter were horrible for my skin.  Sure, I complain about the humidity all year, but once it's gone, I miss it dearly.

The drier air wreaks havoc on my skin.  It's itchy, flaky and very uncomfortable.  Thank goodness  I discovered the power of humidifiers.  But this year, I want to take it a step further.  I'm including a new product in my regimen that seems like the perfect solution to combat dry winter skin.

In last year of high school I started a ritual that I wish I would have maintained.  Essentially, before bed, I would do around 100 sit ups.  Since I don't have a long torso, my midsection can easily become a problem area. So I decided to do regular ab work to keep that problem in check. I don't quite remember the outcome of my diligent efforts, but I do recall engaging in horse play with a class mate in biology.  When he tickles my tummy, he quickly commented, "whoa, you have a strong core, what are you doing?"  That's when I revealed my nightly ritual.

Years later, I picked up the habit again. I was working at my dad's shop at the time. And when business was slow, I use his little ab machine to a few core exercises every day.  My husband (boyfriend at the time), caught a glimpse of my tummy one day and commented on how toned it was.  Because I chose to do ab work when I was bored, I got to enjoy a bikini ready body at all times.

Over the years, I've communicated with countless women via email, on the phone or in person, seeking advice about how to start their next venture.  Some have wanted to launch their own blogs, others had great business or product ideas.  They all seemed to have high hopes in the beginning but, in the end, rarely do they reach the level of success they could have.

This weekend, I exchanged a series of texts with a friend who is struggling to grow her business.  Weeks prior, we had a long conversation discussing her strategy for the next 30 days.  In her texts, she expressed her challenge of being stopped by fear.  After I asked some clarifying questions, she admitted that her "fear" was really frustration of her lack of results.

Last year, I went on a "self-care spree" where I experimented with several rituals meant to nurture the body.  Of all of my experiences, my favorite (by far) was the infrared sauna.  My local gym has a sauna as one of its amenities and I enjoyed spending 10-15 minutes getting in a good sweat after a workout.  Then, one day, I eavesdropped on a conversation a fellow gym member who boasted about her sauna experience.

She told the other sauna-goer that she came to the gym solely to utilize the sauna.  She then described her chronic back pain & spinal issues.  According to her, using the sauna daily was the only thing that alleviated her pain. It was at that point that I realized how beneficial the sauna experience could be.

I have to admit, I've never really been a fan of this whole contouring craze.   While it can look amazing in pictures, I often dismissed it as not practical for everyday life.  But, in the same token, I know that contouring does add a little extra oomph to the finished look.

So how do we create the wonderful dimension that contouring gives without going overboard?

Beyonce's makeup artist, Sir John seems to have the answer.  And he's preaching the merits of his new technique - the invisible contour.

Every once in a while, I like to pop into a local thrift store to see if I can stumble on some unique finds.  Next time I swing by, I'll head straight to the men's section in search of an oversized shirt.  The inspiration for suddenly wanting to purchase men's clothing comes from an outfit post that showed up on my Instagram feed.
She appears to be wearing a men's dress shirt that's been altered into a crop top.  I love everything about this ensemble.  The formality of the shirt perfectly balances the casual nature of the denim shorts.  I also appreciate the length of the shirt.  Short enough to be considered a "crop" without being over-revealing.

I can see this top working well with pretty much any pair of trousers.  It would also look amazing with a leather pencil skirt for fall.  This is certainly a piece that's wearable in any season.   I'm pretty sure that finding a cropped dress shirt will be darn near impossible. Which is why I'd rather have one altered to a perfect fit.  Plus it will be nice to own some unique pieces that aren't readily available in stores.
Be sure to follow @serrabellum for more visual inspiration & style ideas.

It seems like only yesterday that I was inviting every one to try this mascara trick for bolder lashes using activated charcoal.  In the past I've encouraged everyone to use charcoal in many ways including as an ingredient in your DIY facial mask and as a teeth whitener.

Today, I might be sharing the most awesome activated charcoal application ever!

Sometimes I feel like there's an invisible barrier between where I am and where I want to be.  It seems like, no matter how hard I want it, my reality is just out of my reach.  The vision I have of my life doesn't really match up with what currently exists.

As we head towards a new year,  I realize that to truly enjoy a real shift in reality, we must master the art of creating our new normal. Fundamentally, when we aren't experiencing our desires it's because we see ourselves as separate from it.  For us, this new outcome doesn't fit into our current reality.  Although we say we want it, we don't really believe we can experience it.  This only causes us to feel even farther away from our end goal.

I've had conversations with friends lately about managing the extra pounds that seem to magically appear once we hit our 30s.  When we were younger, we were told "once you turn 30, you'll put on weight."

Worse, yet, it's expected that we'll gain even more once we celebrate our 40th birthday.  And it's all downhill from there.  It seems inevitable and there's nothing we can do.

Getting older = Weight Gain

But, after reflecting on this phenomenon, I've come to the conclusion that there's one important contributor to those extra pounds that we overlook.

As we head towards fall and winter, my mind is focusing more on my hair regimen.  The latter part of the year is when I start thinking about excessive shedding, scalp issues and slower growth rate.

Looks like we won't have to worry about a slower growth rate because there might be an overnight growth treatment that'll help boost your hair growth.  I know, I know....when you hear "overnight hair growth treatment," you're probably filled with doubt.  You have every right to be.  Hair growth is a slow and steady process, right?  Waking up with an inch of new hair growth isn't based in reality.

The other day, while organizing my makeup collection, I noticed one item that had gone missing.  The item in question is a lash primer that came with a mascara purchase.  I realized that I rarely used the primer.  But, it could be one missing step that takes my mascara routine to the next level.

Instead of wasting too much time searching, I browsed online for a DIY lash primer.  Moments later, my question was answered.  More than anything, I wanted to create the "fiberlash" effect that seems to dramatically increase the length of our lashes within seconds.

I always get excited at the start of a new month.  It's like a mini reset button that allows us to get reconnected to what me most want in life. Setting monthly goals is one of the most fruitful habits you can ever have.  Maybe, this month, you reach all of your goals. Maybe not. But the act of setting the intentions gets us much closer to our outcomes than if we did nothing at all.

If I could have my wish, the month of September would be focused on the following:

Not only are we jumping into a new month, we are also enter a change in season in September.  The first priority I've set for the month is to clean and organize my closet.  I don't have a lot of closet space so it gets cluttered quickly.  One thing I've noticed is when my closet is in shambles, I can never find anything to wear.  But when clothes are organized, it's easy to pick out outfits.  Once upon a time, I sat in a meeting where the CEO of my former organization was invited to speak. Instead of talking to us about business strategy, he opened the conversation with how important it was to him to make sure his closet was organized.  He said that this was a mark of having real discipline because no one else saw your closet.  You invest that time into yourself.  Every day we stand in front of our closet before getting dressed.  The way your closet looks could have a bigger impact on the direction of your day than you know.

Daily Rituals
Somehow, over the past few months, I almost completely abandoned many of my morning rituals.  I somehow convinced myself that I could use the extra time to squeeze in a little more work.  Unfortunately, when the rituals are gone, so are the benefits that come with it.  I'm that person who's quick to kill the goose once I've gotten my golden eggs.  Then I wonder why the eggs stop showing up. This month, I'd like to nurture my "goose" by focusing on the rituals that impact me the most.

I want the wonderous benefits of meditating daily, drinking lemon water, morning exercise and planning my day. For the past week I've reintroduced those rituals into my day and, the benefits have already started showing up.

New Experiences
Last year, I went on a "new experiences" spree.  I introduced several new activities into my life like such as the float tank, infrared sauna detox, etc.  The result of my experiment was quite interesting.  New actions bring new results and that certainly was the case last year.  It set my life in a new direction.  I found myself saying yes more.  My business grew, my mood was high, everything was going right.  I want to replicate those results by purposefully engaging in new experiences as much as possible.

The first new experience this month was getting a B-12 shot.  I've wanted to get one ever since I first heard of IV Therapy.  The first day or so, after my shot, I didn't notice anything different. By day 3, I realized that I was feeling less lethargic. Now, when I'm bored, I get up and do something productive instead of mindlessly surfing the web.  I love being more productive because  I'm getting so much done.  When I heard that increased energy could be a benefit, I thought I'd be feeling wired and wouldn't sleep.   That wasn't the case for me. I sleep well but I feel alert during the day.

Another new action on my to-list is to get blood work done to check my vitamin levels.  I want to know for sure which vitamins I may be deficient in (if any) so I can supplement accordingly.  Especially as we head into the winter months.  If the B12 shot had a such a positive impact, who knows what can happen if I continue to supplement based on what my body needs.

New experiences don't have to be drastic.  For instance, if I worked from home all week then next week, I'll work at a cafe for a few days.  What's more important is that I don't relive the same exact week over and over.  It's about looking back over the past week and identifying what I can do to make it even better!

These are my overall focuses for the month.  I also set some business & personal goals to reach.  But this month, I have to make sure that my specific goals are stepping stones that lead to much larger intentions.  Short term goals are great but it's important to connected them to the bigger picture.

Last weekend I attended an expo of that featured minority female entrepreneurs.  I arrived just before the first panel session began.  After quickly getting in line, I noticed the young lady standing in front of me wearing the most amazing skirt.
It was a full-length maxi with bright colors and bold patterns.  The skirt also had a faux leather trim that accentuated her tiny waist.  Instinctively, I complimented the woman on how fabulous her skirt was before I had a chance to properly introduce myself.  Because the skirt was so eye catching, she wore a basic white tank to balance out the look. She was genuinely appreciative of my comment and we chatted a little bit before grabbing our registration packets.

She and I hung out for the first 20 minutes or so before the seminar began. We walked over to the vendor section and, I kid you not, she received an additional 5-6 more compliments on her skirt within minutes.  People were drawn to her.  Each those compliments created an opportunity for her to start a conversation with a potential new friend or future client.  At a networking event like this one, an easy conversation starter is absolutely invaluable.
Her statement skirt was thee ultimate conversation starter.   She boasted about how comfortable it was. Because of the full length, she could have been wearing heels or comfy stylish flats and we wouldn't have known the difference.

That day, I realized how important it was to incorporate "conversation starter" pieces into our wardrobe.  Every one of us should own items that easily draws the attention of others.  The woman I met that day was in a network marketing (MLM) business.  The growth of her empire depends on how many people she enrolls in her team. We never know who we 'll come across and how that person can impact our lives. So it's important to create as many networking opportunities often as possible.  Dressing well is directly related to her success....and she clearly understood this.   Dressing well is a part of our success as well.  Let's always remember that.

One night, I decided to take the plunge and finally purchase some of the beauty gadgets my wishlist.  The first gadget I received was the Ultrasonic Skin Scrubber.  That one was a winner but, I was still awaiting the package that contained the ultimate in skin care gadgetry.

Days later, my most desired facial device arrived.  Ever since I learned of the wonders of LED light therapy, I've been mesmerized.  The technology behind red light therapy really excited me.  These UV-free light waves actually penetrate the skin.  According to beauty experts, the blue lights can actually addresses acne concerns while the red light can promote healthy collagen production. Spas offer LED therapy as an add-on to services (usually at an upcharge).  The frugal part of me would rather invest several hundred dollars in an at home unit rather than forking out extra money with each facial.
