Years ago I had this comb drawer.  It was stocked full of various types of detangling combs.  Somehow, I developed this habit of picking up a new detangling comb whenever I came across one that seemed promising.  This went on for years until I found the detangling comb that changed everything.

Since then, I've been pretty content.  I invested in a couple Mason Pearson Detangling combs and called it a day.  The Mason Pearson comb became my absolute favorite for many reasons which are all detailed in this post.   Honestly, I never thought I'd see the day when another detangling comb would catch my eye....

But the day has arrived.

Immediately after getting married, my husband and I sought to purchase our first home.  The problem was that we lived in a city with unusually fast-rising home prices.  Oh, did I mention the fact that we bought at the tail end of a housing bubble?  Interest rates were high and prices were extremely inflated.  After a brief search, we found a home that we loved at first sight.

We were both making hourly wages at the time.  After running the numbers, I figured we could afford the mortgage although things would be tight and we have to be cautious with our spending.  I hated our loan structure. The interest rate was too high and it sometimes fluctuated depending on the market.  Then the bubble burst, causing our home to lose a ton of value.  I hated paying a mortgage for a home that was worth much less than I paid for it. I wanted nothing more than a chance to reduce the monthly payments to free up cash for other things.

Eventually, that day came.  After years of wishing to lower mortgage payment,  I was finally able to refinance.  Once the payment dropped,  my monthly income *technically* went up.  It felt amazing. I thought my life would be so different....but it wasn't.

Nothing really changed once the payment went down.  The money we saved monthly was quickly reabsorbed into our lifestyle.  I fantasized for years about having a lower mortgage, and when it happened....I let everything slip through my fingers.

Here's the good news.  I'm currently in the process of refinancing my mortgage once again! Dropping interest rates have presented us with yet another opportunity to increase our monthly income via a lower payment.  But, this time, I want to do things differently.

I've made commitments to myself to wear dresses more often.  But, people tend to dress down where I live which makes most of my dresses a bit too formal for daily wear.  The solution to this dilemma is the dress that's absolutely perfect for shopping, running errands or even a brunch date with Mr. Hopefully.

It's the demin dress.

Why do I love denim dresses?  I consider them as timeless and classic.  Sure, they aren't as formal as other styles of dresses but that doesn't mean that they shouldn't be staples in our closet.

If you haven't found a denim dress that you love, it's because you haven't been looking hard enough.  You've probably dismissed them as outdated, frumpy or even a fashion no-no.  I'm here to invite you to think differently about the underappreciated demin dress.

Fun fact, I met my husband wearing a jean dress.  Back then, I owned several because they were my favorite type of dress.  The one I wore, in particular, was slightly form-fitting, yet modest and stylish.  I appeared feminine and approachable because of the casual nature of denim.

What I love about the denim dress is that you can go for whatever silhouette that best suits you.  Pretty much any cut, shade, style, or shape is an option.  Short or long, form-fitting or flowy,  you can find it!

Not ready to go "full denim dress" yet?  That's perfectly fine.  Perhaps you can consider incorporating denim skirts into your style rotation.
Again, you can play around with style, length to find your perfect fit.  Denim skirts are the epitome of casual-feminine-chic, especially if you accessorize with a strappy shoe.  It's a perfect laid-back look that's can still be polished and put together.

About a month ago, I realized that I had deviated away from my habit of jumping on the scale every morning.  Weighing myself daily was a habit I maintained to prevent my weight from getting out of control.  Whenever I don't pay attention to my eating habits for too long, the weight quickly shows up.

Since I hadn't weighed myself in a while, I was pretty nervous to find out what kind of damage had been done.  When I finally drummed up enough courage to jump on the scale, I was shocked and pleasantly surprised to find out that my weight was actually lower than previously.

I was super excited about losing a few pounds and thought back about what I did to create this result.  After a few moments of reflection, my mind drew a blank.  Truthfully, I hadn't really done anything differently.   I ate pretty much the same, didn't exercise much.  I wasn't focusing on my weight during that time at all.  The weight seemed to just miraculously disappear.

Since I couldn't come up with a definitive conclusion, I just assumed there was no cause....that it was some sort of random occurrence.

Yesterday morning, the answer came to me as I conducted my morning routine.    The weight loss that I experienced during that time could be a direct result of my regular meditation sessions.

Here's why.

2019 is quickly coming to a close.  Let's do a goal planning exercise to prepare for the year ahead.  I've written about the concept of the future version of you on a few occasions.  Basically, it's the idea of being the person today that will create the future you want to experience tomorrow.

Every single desire of yours is possible if you simply make a series of decisions/actions that bring about that result.  Today, we're going to focus on our ideal future and how to ensure this future happens by identifying exactly what we need to do today.

I'm sure everyone's goal is to one day become financially free!  That's my goal for sure.  Before we arrive at financial freedom, we must first become financially independent.  Financial freedom and financial independence are often used interchangeably.  But for the purposes of our discussion, I'd like to give a new meaning to being financially independent.

I like to think of financial independence as the ability to generate income outside of a steady paycheck that comes from a 9-5.  Once you've developed the ability to earn income without the use of an employer, you get to chose how your life is lived versus feeling forced to have to work for a paycheck.

I'm not here to tell people to quit their jobs.  Actually, I suggest that folks start building the habit of building financial independence while still employed.  It's a muscle that must be developed so having the safety net of a steady paycheck is comforting to have as you build your new revenue streams.  You might be asking yourself, "if paychecks are so reliable what's the need to even have other streams of income."

Yesterday, I made an impromptu trip to Marshall's to see if I would stumble on some interesting finds.  While standing in line, I noticed that myself and the two women in front of me, were wearing the same hairstyle.  All three of us wore our hair in two large cornrows. Another thing we all had in common is that we were dressed down and put no extra effort into our appearance before leaving the house.  I could have excused my behavior by saying that I left the house to visit my mom and had not made the decision to visit Marshalls until that last second.  But, truth be told...I had no excuse.

Wearing two large braids was an easy option.  It had been raining on and off so wearing my hair out was a no-go.  This style is simple and no fuss.  And, at the same time, this style can look extremely basic and underwhelming,  especially if you're dressed down.  It was at that moment, that I decided to seek out inspiration on how to enhance one of my favorite go-to hairstyles.

Laying down my edges is something I've never been able to get into.  I'm just not good at it and my baby hairs never seem to cooperate.  In my quest to master this technique, I've acquired a wide array of gels, waxes, and hair glues to make the impossible happen.  Honestly, I was content with never having mastered the art of smoothing down my edges.  I almost gave up on the idea of ever making it happen.

But, today is a new day and I'm excited to try a new method I came across just moments ago.  Who knows, maybe this new technique will bring about the results I've longed for...

As the year comes to a close, I have this burning desire to work on myself and my surroundings.  It's been a habit of mine for years.  When I worked a traditional job, I would always ask for the last two weeks of the year off.  To me, the last two weeks were sacred.  That block of time was always dedicated to reflection + preparation.

Reflection allowed me to look back and show gratitude for the wonderful manifestations I experienced throughout the year.  I have this weird habit of only looking forward and sometimes forgetting the achievements of the recent past.  That's why reflection is important.  Reflection helps remind us that we have successfully created before which helps build confidence that it can be replicated in the future.

In 2020 and beyond, I'd like to do things a little differently.  Along with investing the last few weeks in the year into a massive manifestation project, I'd also like to build the daily of creating in real-time.

Don't get me wrong, setting aside dedicated time for massive manifestation is absolutely necessary.  That's how I accomplished a lot of the big goals I set for myself in the past.  A focused period of massive action is sometimes needed.  But.... I also want to make the act of creating an active, ongoing process.

With 2020 being just around the corner, I'm guessing that a lot of us have some big goals set for the year (and decade) to come.  A lot of my friends have intentions of launching a successful business in the near future.  Others want to take their current results to the next level.

I'm here to share a road map that will almost guarantee successful results in any endeavor.  If you follow this advice, you'll greatly increase your chances of achieving great outcomes.

Every once in awhile I notice a micro-trend that really catches the eye.  I consider a micro-trend as a trend within a trend.  It's about noticing the style mavens who elevate a specific trend with their own unique twist.

As someone who loves to dress in basics, one of the most powerful ways I can enhance my look is by accessorizing to perfection.  Experimenting with jewelry and shoes seems like the obvious choice.  But I find myself enamored with the idea of wearing a beautifully designed red belt bag as a signature statement piece.

A belt bag is on my list of items to acquire....but as always, I was deadset on grabbing a solid black one.  Black is a classic color but a bag that is meant to be worn around the waist has a different purpose. It should serve as a focal point for your entire outfit.  A friend and I attended a fashion show then visited the showroom to check out the designer pieces available for sale.  Her eyes immediately gravitated towards a grey snakeskin belt bag. It was stunning.  The minute she tried it on, her entire look took on a different vibe.

It was an absolute must-have that she couldn't pass up.

When winter rolls around, I sometimes tend to kick back and take it easy with my skin regimen.  Oil production slows and my skin isn't as hyperactive so I'm not as diligent as in summer.  With colder weather, activity in the skin seems to slow down.  This can be good and bad.  I don't experience the same amount of breakouts but it feels like the stuff in my pores don't reach the skin's surface.

Because we don't sweat as much, perhaps that affects our skin's ability to purge via our pores.  One way I'm combating this issue is to mask more frequently.  Masks are awesome, aren't they?  In just a few minutes they have the ability to erase a multitude of skin sins.  What I love about clay masks that they're diverse.   You can try a drug store priced brand like the cult fave Aztec Healing Clay or you can splurge a little and try a multi-mask like Glam Glow.

Whatever product you decide, make sure you include this step for maximum results.

I'm a child of the 80's.  Back then blush was a really big deal.  Women loved to oversaturate their cheeks with blush to the point where it became excessive.  Even as an innocent child, I knew that what these women were doing was a faux pas they would one day regret.

Since then I've had an unhealthy relationship with blush.  I didn't see it as useful and feared that wearing it would make me look like a clown.  Not to mention how difficult it is to find a blush that flatters deep skin tones.

Today I'm here to announce that I've finally overcome my hatred to blush.  How? This shift in my thinking is due to finding the shade blush that does what blush was supposed to do.  Blush isn't supposed to be some random bright color that contrasts with the skin, sitting atop of cheekbones.  It's supposed to replicate the look of enhanced blood flow to the cheek.

Orange blush does just that.

You may remember an article I wrote about finding a muse to emulate when you begin your glo up journey.  Well, I'm happy to report that one of my muses revealed one of her signature beauty secrets on Instagram and I can't wait to share it with you today.

Every holiday season & winter season, I find myself slowing getting softer and softer as I put on extra weight.  Typically, I wait until warmer weather to frantically lose the extra pounds by summer.  This year, I'm taking a different approach.

It's only been a couple days since Thanksgiving and I've already begun putting on the holiday pounds.   I had a choice to make...either do nothing and let the weight compound or I can take a small step that could have a huge impact.

I can't tell you the last time I purchased a bottle of traditional body lotion.  I have a few that I use on my hands and feet but body lotion just doesn't do it for me anymore.  They mean well, but aren't able to deliver the level of hydration that I'm searching for.

In spring and summer, I typically rely on whipped butters and oil-gels to do the job.  But, when seasons change my skin really craves water-based moisture.  Dry winter skin is atrocious.  Lotions try their best but they mainly coat the skin rather than hydrate it intensely.  Thankfully, there are a new line of products available with the power to banish dry skin forever.

With winter around the corner, I'm scrambling for ideas on how to proactively treat my skin.  Last winter, I realized that the biggest area of opportunity to really infuse moisture into the skin is before bed or early morning hours.

I can't tell you how many times I've woken up overnight feeling parched from head to toe.  My lips were dry, I was thirsty, and my skin was suffering.  I just don't do well at all in low humidity conditions.  This winter I'm winning the war on dryness thanks to my new little beauty kit.  Last year, I made sure to keep a bottle of water within arms reach of my pillow at all times.  The benefits I experienced were numerous. Now I'm ready to take things to the next level.

Let's have a chat about the bedside beauty essentials that'll save my skin this winter.

I've discussed my love for collagen here at length.  Ever since I learned of the existence of a product with the ability to help restore lost collagen, I was sold.  As the years passed, I learned more about how to best incorporate collagen into our regimen for maximum benefits.  My journey first began with finding high-quality collagen products.  Then I learned of collagen loading which involves making sure we consume enough collagen peptides to experience visible benefits.

I thought I knew everything possible about how to enhance my collagen regimen until recently.  While searching for natural energy supplements on Amazon, I found some product recommendations that have pretty much changed my life.

Thursday, November 14, 2019

The other night I had a conversion with a friend who was in the process of researching botox as an option to treat her forehead wrinkles.  While botox is an effective solution for dealing with (and preventing) wrinkles, it's expensive.  There's also the unwanted side effect of looking like botox face from overuse.  Botox might work but I like first seek out more natural solutions.

As luck would have it, I happened to stumble upon a treatment option that is much more natural, and less expensive than botox.  Best of all, this product is readily accessible and was shown in studies to help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

This weekend I randomly jumped on a life-changing Instagram session.  Her intention was merely to catch up and share some life updates but something she said really struck a nerve.  At one point during the Live, she talked about how her life was now thriving and how life was good before but now she was experiencing a new level.

Once the Live ended, I did a little self-reflection and asked myself, "am I thriving?"

The honest answer....."no."

Don't get me wrong, things are good.  But good isn't the same as thriving.  With a new year coming soon, I'd like to set myself up to thrive in 2020.  Let's talk about how to do that.

If I had to compile a list of all the women who I think have amazing skin, Justine Skye would absolutely make the list.  I've been patiently waiting for the day when her skincare routine was fully revealed.

That day has come.

Elle reached out to Justine for her to give us a glimpse of her morning wakeup routine.  After reviewing the video a couple of times, it seems pretty legit.  Justine pretty much rushes through the products she used and doesn't take time to fully explain the names of each product used.  That leads me to believe this is an #unsponsored reveal of her actual skincare faves.

Best of all, I've stumbled on a couple of recommendations that I'll probably add to my own collection.

Most of us have been familiar with L.OA. principles for a while now.  If you've practiced the Law of Attraction, you've probably manifested some wonderful outcomes into your life.  I enjoy incorporating the Law of Attraction but I think it's time crank things up to the next level.

How will we do this?

By practicing Quantum Manifesting.  Basically, it's like a more powerful version of the Law of Attraction by introducing the principles of quantum physics.  Although the concept may sound complicated, it's actually pretty easy to execute if you know the fundamentals.

When it comes to low-tech facial tools, the gua sha has got to be one of my favorites. I loved picking it up, while bored, and completing a series of strokes to get the blood flowing.

Where I messed up was that I didn't have a dedicated routine to follow.  As a result of that, I found myself using my beloved gua sha less and less.

Then things changed when I logged into YouTube, recently,  and was greeted with a video recommendation that would get me back on track.

Years ago, my brother's fiance bought him a fancy electric tea kettle for his birthday.  As a tea connoisseur, this gift made perfect sense.  Although it was a great gift, I thought spending over $100 for a specialty tea kettle was over the top.

Recently, I asked him how he and his fancy tea kettle were doing.  To this day, he still claims that it's one of his favorite and most prized possessions.  When he wakes up in the morning, there's hot water waiting for him at a specific temperature the creates the perfect cup of tea.  I snickered at his adoration for an overpriced electronic and continued to boil water the old fashioned way.

Not long ago, my husband interrupted my work asking if I had something on the stove.  Suddenly, I remembered boiling water to enjoy some tea.  Unfortunately, I had forgotten all about it and allowed the water (once again) to completely evaporate.  Begrudgingly, I came to the conclusion that I probably should cave in a get a tea kettle that would prevent me from falling into the same predicament over and over.

Best decision I ever made.

I'm excited to share some new hydration tips for dry skin season.  The tip I have today is a great one.  Coincidentally, a new product launch gave me the inspiration to give this method a try and I loved it!

My skin is especially sensitive to the drier air so I become desperate for ways to keep the moisture from escaping the surface level.  Most of us know that oil is an excellent means of keeping our hair and skin moisturized.  Although it doesn't moisturize directly, oil is like a powerful ally in the war against dryness.

Let's talk about a quick DIY that you can try today to create your most hydrated, dewy skin by blending oil with an unsuspecting product for an ideal pairing.

Remember when you searched high and low for the perfect shade of nude polish?  That was a fun time but those days are over.  Chances are that you have a few varieties of nude that you love and wear over and over.  I'm guilty of always requesting some type of nude nail every single I walk into the nail salon.

It's time to do something different.  Nude nails will always have a place but maybe it's time to modernize it a little.  I'm here to propose that we experiment with a nude nail alternative that's universally flattering on brown skin.

Tuesday, October 15, 2019

Years ago, I was wary of wearing a full-on red lip.  Part of the issue had to do with the fact that finding a flattering shade of red was darn near impossible.  Things are very different now as I've amassed a modest, collection of beautiful red lipsticks that can be worn for any occasion.

Honestly, I'd love to wear a red lip on a daily basis.  But because I'm an entrepreneur who's dressed down on most days, a bold red lip isn't as practical as I would hope.

Enter...the sheer red lip.

To me, a satiny-rouge lip is the everyday version of the bold red lip we all know and love.

Wash days can get arduous at times.  I pretty much used to block off an entire day to make sure I included all the necessary steps.  Obviously, my hair benefited tremendously.  Then eventually, I made the executive decision to shorten the steps a little for the sake of saving time.

One of the casualties of my new "minimalist" wash day regimen was the pre-poo step.  For a while, things seemed to be going ok.  But then I came to the realization that my hair was struggling.  It was always frizzy, coarse and couldn't hold a style to save its life.

Eventually, I came to the startling conclusion that I was suffering from low porosity hair.

Immediately, I sprung into action by acquiring a bunch of new hair products and incorporating various techniques to combat frizz.  Some of it worked and some didn't.  Of everything I've incorporated so far, one technique seemed to have an immediate effect.

Saturday, October 12, 2019

Typically, I like to dedicate the last 3 months in the year on focusing on goals that I haven't yet achieved.  Since we're entering a new decade soon, these next three months are pretty important.  Recently, I realized that there were some areas where I've been slacking.  So now I've got to really raise my focus to make up for lost time.

For the next few months, I'd like to be manifesting in a big way.  Sounds great, but words mean little if there's no action to back it up.  To make sure that I experience real results, I plan on implementing a strategy that practically guarantees successful manifestation.

Beauty routines can get complicated. I'm slightly embarrassed when I think about how many beauty related products I own.  I've amassed so many products because a complete beauty routine has so many moving parts.  We have to focus on creating glowing skin, healthy hair,  remember to eat well....the list goes on.

At times, I feel like maintain a comprehensive routine gets overwhelming and I fall off completely.  Today I asked myself a powerful question.  I wondered if I could boil my beauty routine into one fundamental practice that could support all of my beauty goals both inside and out.

Once I was finally able to defeat my acne, I thought all of my skin's problems were behind me.  But, the older I got, the drier my skin became.  Dry skin sucks because that's when the signs of aging start to appear.  Suddenly, I can see tiny little cracks and lines appearing on the surface.  Not to mention flaky skin which is the absolute worst.

After deciding that I've had enough, I sought to find the highest moisturizing products on the market.  My search lead me to hyaluronic acid (HA).  Specifically, I fell in love with Hada Labo's range of hyaluronic acid products.  These HA focused moisturizers are sensational.  In fact, I recently added to my collection with an HA product that literally feels like a sheet mask in a bottle.  I'll dedicate an entire article to this product because it's that amazing!  But, for now, I want to let you in on another find that I stumbled upon less than 24 hours ago.

The reason why this product is so interesting to me is that the hero ingredient was found to be 5X more powerful than our beloved hyaluronic acid.

Thursday, September 26, 2019

I try to stay consistent with taking supplements, but sometimes it's hard.  Of all the supplements in my regimen, I have the hardest time staying consistent with consuming enough collagen.  That's because the daily intake requirements are kinda high compared to typical supplements.

Not to mention that most collagen experts actually recommend that we take more than the recommended dosage (aka collagen loading).  Collagen is highly abundant in the body, but it starts to decline each year after the age of 25.  When we take 2 scoops of collagen peptides, we help the body restore some of its reserves. But, if you're looking to experience external beauty benefits, it's important to stay consistent and consume enough collagen to make a difference.

I absolutely want to bet better with my collagen intake. But couldn't find a way to easily fit it into my lifestyle until now.

Another summer has come and gone.  How did you do with wearing sun protection?  Were you a good girl who applied sunscreen religiously every day?  I wasn't.  I tried my best things didn't work out as well as I would've liked.  Because sun damage takes a while to appear, we may think we've gotten away with skipping sun protection here and there.  But, even though we don't see it, the damage might still be there.

Even if the signs of sun-related aging don't show up for years, we still experience hyperpigmentation from increased sun exposure.  Perhaps a little skin brightening might be in order....and I have just the thing could help produce brighter skin while helping to minimize sun damage from summer.

Lately, when I come across beauty secret reveals on IG, I'll sometimes see tools and procedures that were little known now becoming mainstream.  I love it when beauty innovations become commonplace.  This helps bring the prices down as more companies strive to get a piece of a booming market.  We saw this happen with LED masks. When LED first entered the beauty market, a mask costs thousands of dollars and only a few celebrities had access to their very own anti-aging mask.  Now, these masks are very accessible and even drug store brands like Neutrogena have thrown their hat in the game.

Another skin-changing beauty invention that I'm a huge fan of is microneedling.  After developing a skin routine that controlled my acne, my focus immediately turned to the obvious acne scars that were permanently engraved in my cheeks.  After a series of microneedling sessions, my skin began to look normal again.  My goal of going foundation free was quickly becoming a reality.

Now, a new procedure has appeared on the horizon. Some believe that this procedure might be an even better version of microneedling.   It's called micro-channeling and I can't wait to tell you why it's so awesome.

I wanna share something with you.  It's probably something you've heard before but I'm sure someone needs to hear this again.  We're heading directly into winter.  I dunno about you but cold-weather season always means that I'll be slowly packing on a few pounds.  This year I want things to be a little different.  I'm tired of trying to shed extra weight when summer rolls around.   Instead, I want to discover the secret to staying lean and implement that habit into my life.

What's the secret to staying lean, you ask?  Well, I'm happy to share it with you.  And, best of all, this secret is much easier than you can imagine.

Monday, August 26, 2019

I had two conversations this weekend, different people, that were very similar in nature.  Both women hold professional positions and both felt as if they were underappreciated financially. They also felt that their supervisors weren't listening to their valid work-related concerns.

Basically, they were both unhappy with their current work situation.  As I listened to their grievances, I connected to the emotion and passion each of them held about wanting to change their current situation.  The reason I could relate is because I was once in their position.  I too was unhappy with undesirable work conditions.  But the worse things got, the less I complained. Instead, I opted to take a different approach.  After realizing that the passion I felt was valuable fuel,  I redirected my anger to create something amazing.

When we talk about attracting abundance into our lives, we're often told to do things like visualizing ideal outcomes, repeat affirmations, etc.  Today I'll bring you another technique that has worked for me time and time again.

Yesterday, morning at 9:00 am sharp a car pulled into my driveway.  Parked outside was a woman ready to perform maid service.  Typically, my maid appointments occur later in the day but yesterday was different.  Because of her early arrival time, she was done before noon.  As soon as she left, I felt ready to get to work.  Within minutes I received an idea that, if executed properly could generate tens of thousands of dollars in revenue.  Not taking my inspiration for granted, I drafted some emails hoping my idea will actually come to fruition.

As soon as the email was sent, I did a little bit of self-reflection.  Where did this burst of motivation come from?  Why did I suddenly have this genius idea that could produce greater abundance?  What happened?

Monday, August 19, 2019

From time to time I like to touch on the topic of anti-aging.  Most often, I tend to highlight beauty or nutritional products that help slow down the hands of time. But today, I'd like to share one anti-aging tip that might be the most powerful of them all.

I developed this anti-aging theory after watching a sports documentary.   The program featured interviews from several ex-athletes 25 or more years after their glory days.  Some of the guys looked like they never played sports a day in their life.   A few of them looked, and seemed, amazingly young and fit for their age.

Once the program ended, I racked my brain to identify what could be the reason for the difference in the two groups.  I've bounced by theory around with a few friends but wasn't sure if I had any valid points.  But a recent viral video further supported my hypothesis so I'm ready to share it with everyone!

Thursday, August 15, 2019

I can't believe summer is almost over.  Since we're now in the back half of the year, I thought it would be a great time to do some reflection.  What makes this year interesting is that it marks the end of a decade.  A new decade is like the start of a new era.  I don't know about you but I want the next 10 years to be even better than the last.

So how do we make that happen?

I love clay masks. But, instead of using them regularly, I find myself reaching for masks only when their service is needed.  Typically that means that my skin is ultra congested or I have a few breakouts that need to be addressed immediately.

The clay masks I own are pretty good.  But they aren't at the level they need to be.  What I truly want is a clay mask that contains active ingredients that address multiple skin concerns at once.  Thankfully, the folks at The Ordinary have the ability to read minds.  'Cause they just launched an affordable mask that has the power to transform your skin.

There's this girl I follow on social media.  She's a successful entrepreneur who's constantly growing her brand. Although I don't follow her very closely, I can say that she's had an amazing journey over the years.  But, there's one thing I notice....every so often she's discussing a new diet plan to help shed some of her excess weight.

One time she consumed mainly vegetable juices.  Recently she decided to go keto.  But the last time I visited her page, it seemed as if simple carbs had entered back into her life in a big way.

I don't fault her. Carbs are a tough food group to eliminate.  They're filling, satisfying and taste so good.  It's nearly impossible to give up carbs long term. But losing a decent amount of weight requires some form of carb management.   Since the keto diet is so popular, many are opting for carb elimination.  Eliminating carbs works!  But is almost 100% temporary.

You will reintegrate carbs back into your life....and you will likely gain all the weight back once you do.  The true key to weight success, in my opinion, requires carb management, not carb elimination.

Sometime last year I started to amass a small collection of balms.  Not lip balms, the kind that comes in little canisters meant to be used on the body.  I bought them 'cause I knew it was the right thing to do.  But, honestly, I had no clear purpose for them.  Because I didn't really think of how to put them to use, they pretty much just sat around.

Now I'm realizing that I'm allowing potentially great products to go to waste but I can't let that happen. So I did a little brainstorming today and came up with a bunch of specific ways to utilize body balms in my beauty routine.

Even though  I talk about sheets masks incessantly on this blog, I don't really use them all that frequently.  My sheet masks are pretty much "out of sight, out of mind" until winter."  Heck, I didn't even bring any with me on a recent trip to California.  I figured that since we're in the middle of summer, my normal moisturizer would suffice.

Wrong.  I was completely wrong.

That extra-long flight combined with lowered humidity really dried out my skin.  Luckily, a friend randomly offered to share some sheet masks she picked up on a trip to Japan.  Thanks to her intervention, my skin was saved.  Once again I made a verbal commitment to never forsake my sheet masks again.  This was perfect timing as I just learned that the 1# selling sheet mask brand in all of Korea has finally launched in the US.

When it comes to summer, one thing I really hate is how the hot, humid weather messes with my skin.  My skin gets really congested thanks to all of the oil production, dirt, and dead skin working together to ruin my life.

One solution that I'm using this summer to address this problem is a nifty little beauty accessory that's been a total lifesaver.

Today I want to talk about a really important topic.  I've discussed this before but it's time to bring the conversation back once again.  As I prepare to celebrate another birthday, I've made a commitment to incorporate wellness habits that will serve me well as I age.

I mentioned in the article on lymph massage that I've been on a mini-weight loss journey.  As of this morning, I've lost 5lbs.  Pretty good right?  As the weight comes off, one thing becomes increasingly clear. My body is changing.  Yes, it's getting smaller....but something else is happening behind the scenes.

I'm losing muscle.  And I've been doing so for over a decade. Sure, I'm able to fit in the same pair of jeans that I wore years ago, but my body composition is now very different.  Although I'm considered a slim person, I'm fattier than I used to be.

I'm not fat per se,
I'm fatty.
Does that make sense?

When I was younger, I noticed that television commercials would urge viewers to develop skills to launch a new career in their spare time.  They made it seem so easy to earn a degree simply by reallocating excess time.  The idea of taking on a huge undertaking in just a few minutes a day didn't seem realistic.

But, this morning I read about a manifestation story that completely supports the theory of changing your entire your spare time. This guy was able to impact his life in a major way.  He did so by supplementing his day with activities that attract abundance.  Thanks to his efforts, he was able to manifest "a ton of money."

Let's talk more about what he did and how we too can manifest in our spare time.

One of the most popular articles I've written was that time I shared how I became pretty and it changed my life.  To this day, that has been one of the most effective experiments I've ever done.  Today I want to touch a bit more on the process I took to actually facilitate my glow up.

Hyaluronic acid is great.  I've written several articles on how much  I adore this moisture-inducing powerhouse.  I've even amassed a small collection of wonderful hyaluronic acids products that do a wonderful job of moisturizing.   Applying hyaluronic acid topically is pretty awesome but there are a slew of folks out there who swear by HA injectibles to create the look of firmer skin and ward off wrinkles.

For most people, HA-based fillers are expensive and unattainable.  Others aren't comfortable with injecting fillers into their skin.  If you fall within one of these two categories, you may want to pay close attention to what I have to share.
